Bourbon, BBQ and Bluegrass

Bourbon, BBQ and Bluegrass
Kentucky Derby Kick-off to benefit the Northwest Connecticut Arts Council
Friday, May 4, 2018

Bourbon lovers and the “bourbon-curious” are invited to celebrate the kickoff to the Kentucky Derby with Bourbon, Barbecue and Bluegrass on Friday, May 4th from 7 – 9 pm.  This event is a benefit for the Northwest Connecticut Arts Council and is hosted at Litchfield Distillery.  Tickets available at: https://bbb5-4-18.eventbrite.com

Along with the sounds of bluegrass music of the Zolla Boys, guests will have the opportunity to taste handcrafted, premium spirits, and sample a selection of specialties from Smoke 'n' Barrel Barbecue.  There will also be distillery tours, and an auction drawing to add to the festivities. The auction drawing will include chances to win tickets to The Litchfield Jazz Festival, Infinity Hall, The Warner Theatre, The Palace Theatre, to name a few offerings, as well as items from books to bourbon, from jewelry to glassware, and experiences from The Mattatuck Museum, Persue the Clues, and workshops with artists and artisans.

Litchfield Distillery's Batchers Bourbon Whiskey and Batchers Gin are silver medal winners of the renowned San Francisco World Spirits Competition. Litchfield Distillery is owned and operated by Jack and David Baker.  The Distillery’s Batchers’ series includes three handcrafted, premium spirits: Batchers’ Bourbon Whiskey, Batchers’ 8-year Double Barreled Bourbon Whisky, and Batchers’ Gin, and flavored vodkas for which they are ranked among the “Fifty Best.”  The Distillery uses locally harvested grains from throughout the region.

The Zolla Boys are a family bluegrass band based in Northwest Connecticut.  The band consists of 17 and 18 years-old brothers Sam and Ben on mandolin and guitar, and their father Larry playing bass. Since the 1930s, “brother harmony” has been a vital ingredient in the traditional sound of bluegrass and mountain music.  The Zolla Boys carry on that tradition.  Whether playing original tunes, classic duets, folk/country ballads or driving ‘grass, the heart of their performance is that distinct “brother harmony.” They perform throughout New England and the Northeast and have been featured on award-winning festival stages—including the Grey Fox Emerging Artist Showcase, Blistered Fingers, Podunk and Joe Val Bluegrass Festival—and have performed live on Woodsongs Old-Time Radio Hour. "We are excited to be a part of the Arts Council's Bourbon, BBQ and Bluegrass event. By supporting this event guests are supporting live music and we appreciate that very much," said Ben Zolla

Tickets are $50 when purchased in advance and $60 at the door, if there are tickets remaining. This event is limited to 75 patrons. Advanced tickets may be purchased online at https://bbb5-4-18.eventbrite.com
