Women in Early Litchfield 1720 - 1830 with Dan Keefe
The women of early Litchfield are the quiet piece of our history. Their sacrifices, struggles, tragedies and achievements, long overlooked, wait to be appreciated, told, preserved and embroidered into our Town’s story.
Dan Keefe will introduce four individuals who stand in for all of the women of those early years - women who sowed the early harvests, walked our muddy roads and worshipped in our first church. They held families together through poor harvests, the loss of children and husbands to disease, injury and war, and passed from slavery to freedom.
