Voices of Hope - A Conversation with Eileen Manela
Growing up in suburban New Jersey, Eileen knew early on that her father’s story was different from other children on the block. The number on his arm, his accent, and the deep melancholy sadly seemed the norm. It wasn’t until Eileen was in college that she started to ask questions.
Voices of Hope, an organization for descendants of holocaust survivors, and Speak Up Storytelling, a Hartford based storytelling organization that promotes the art of personal storytelling, recently collaborated. Descendants told their parents’ story to an audience at The Mark Twain House. Tonight, Eileen brings a portion of her father’s story here.
