Starting From Scratch; Textile Production in Early America
A social gathering featuring a presentation by a special guest, Kathryn Boughton. Kathryn, a native of Canaan and a long-time history buff, will tell us who made the textiles in Early America, how they were made, and how they were cared for - probably making any woman in the audience profoundly grateful for modern technology. Do come and learn how the women of those times toiled long and hard - sometimes by lantern or candlelight, to decorate their homes, keep their families warm, and clothe their children. The textiles they created were both practical and beautiful, and the CHS exhibit features many wonderful examples of their work. Plenty of refreshments will be on hand. All are most welcome.
