Art Exhibit: Shirley Metcalf, "Color Ecology"
Shirley Metcalf's artwork will be on display at the Norfolk Library during the month of April. Metcalf is a professional mixed-media artist and long-time resident of Norfolk, who holds a BFA in Painting from the Hartford Art School, University of Hartford, and a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Clarkson University. She has exhibited her work locally and nationally. Her “Color Ecology” series merges botanical eco-printing with traditional art and surface design processes on natural fibers. Combining eco-dyed, earthy hues of plants with the infinite colors, textures, and materials of traditional art processes reveals contrary yet harmonious compositions. With a vast range of colors and materials, her artwork suggests that diversity can allow us a more beautiful, mystical, and fascinating place to coexist. Please join us for the opening reception for the artist on Sunday, April 5, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., hosted by the Library Associates.
