FAQ & Guidelines

Q: How does the NWCT Artist Shop Directory work?

A: The NWCT Artist Shop Directory is the central place to shop online for local NWCT art, apparel, jewelry, home decor, furniture, and much more made/sold by NWCT creators.

The NWCT Arts Council will promote the Artist Shop Directory on all platforms to aid artists and creators whose sales and engagement have been severely affected by Covid-19. This is a service that we provide free to the public.

Artists, creators, and makers in NWCT are encouraged to apply to have their shop listed in the directory (application above)!

Q: Is the Arts Council taking sales/selling art through their website?

A: No, we are not taking sales through our website. The directory is a place to showcase to artists' e-commerce shops. Each listing's photo is linked directly to the corresponding e-commerce shop.

Q: How can I get my e-commerce shop listed in the directory?

A: You can apply to have your shop listed in the directory using the application form (above). Applications will be sent to Arts Council staff for approval. Please note that only e-commerce shops will be listed . Websites that do not have e-commerce shops integrated within the site will not be listed. If you have an e-commerce shop separate from your website (such as Etsy, Saatchiart, Fine Art America, etc.), please include the link in your application. The intent of the directory is to promote direct online buying of locally made/sold creative products. Applicants must reside or own a business within the NWCT Arts Council's 25-town service area OR be a member with the Arts Council to be listed.

Q: I make most of my sales on Facebook/Instagram/social media. Can I list my social media link?

A: We are not currently listing social media links in the Artist Shop Directory - only e-commerce shops with the intent of promoting direct online buying. We encourage you to look into setting up an e-commerce shop! There are many great examples and options to explore listed in the directory and some how-to guides below.

Q: Can I submit my website as a shop?

A: If you have an e-commerce shop on your website OR are taking commissions, yes. If you do not, please submit a separate e-commerce shop. If you are taking specific commissions (i.e. custom quilts, signs, pet portraits, etc.), please select the "Commission" category when applying. We will not be including sites that do not have a way to make purchases online in the Artist Shop Directory.

Q: How do I make an e-commerce shop?

A: This depends on what platform you are looking into, and the products you are selling.
